Build The Kids A Treehouse For Christmas

In 1998, Fred and Linda Lundgren of Katy, Texas established a website called EZ Treehouse Plans after building a treehouse for their children. They realized a treehouse would keep the children occupied at home while having fun. They actually built it in their front yard!

Even though it was well-hidden within the canopy of a tree, the project resulted in an 18 month battle with their neighborhood association, after which the Lundgrens agreed to move it to the back yard, where it stands today. Since then, they have sold thousands of plans to parents, grandparents and to many divorced fathers

According to the Lundgrens, their sales came to a halt in 2008 due to the recession. In response, they have decided to give away their treehouse plans as Christmas gifts, hoping to generate a renewed interest in backyard treehouses and playhouses for children.

The Lundgrens admit their plans are best suited for single family home owners while most apartment complexes and landlords of rent houses will dislike the idea. In response, the Lundgrens emphasize that their treehouse is attractive and tree-friendly, and can be built around a tree without ever attaching to the tree or harming the tree in any way.

The Lundgrens claim the EZ treehouse can be adapted to almost any common area of an apartment complex or to any back yard of a rent house without becoming an "eye sore". The EZ treehouse can also be built as a free standing structure.

Fred and Linda Lundgren want everyone to understand that their motivation is to help other parents and grandparents create a place of interest for neighborhood children to have wholesome fun together. The Lundgren treehouse proved to be a great family project and they want it known as "a gift that keeps giving for many years".

Their website slogan is simple.

"Build a treehouse. It's a gift your children and grandchildren will remember forever".
